about us
In 1981, when Miriam and Josef Bollag strolled through the ancient city of Jaffa in Israel, they passed by an art gallery with impressive sculptures by Frank Meisler. Mesmerized by the sculpture named "The Wedding" they decided to not only buy this piece of art, but to also represent the artist in Switzerland.
This spontaneous purchase eventually led to the creation of Gallery M.
Three years later the Bollag family opened the doors of Gallery M for the public to gain a sight at their art collection.
While initially presenting sculptures by only one artist, they started collecting paintings from different artists from all over the world.
It does not come as a surprise that Miriam and Josef have a special connection to art, as this passion runs in Bollag families all over the world:
Comandatore Julio Bollag was the artistic director of the city of Florence in the 18th century, Max Bollag was the most famous art dealer in Zurich in the 20th century and Amy Bollag is one of the most famous living artists today (born 1924 Switzerland).
“Art is a wider dimension of perception and awareness of our daily lives.
Art entails ideas, emotions and well-being.”
